Uff dah, it’s cold outside…but it’s warm in here!

Winter is fully upon us, for better or worse. Some of us go into full hibernation mode, only venturing out when absolutely necessary. Others can’t wait to get out and enjoy the cross-country ski trails, hit the slopes, or find our favorite ice-fishing hole and see what pops up on the Vexlar. Whichever winter type you might be, one thing is for sure… We all need somewhere cozy to be at the end of the day!

We thought we would take a minute to address some winter FAQs.

  • Q: What type of snow load can your units hold?

  • A: Due to the pitch of the canopy, and the vinyl canvas it is made of, snow simply does not like to stay on it. Usually the snow slides off before it gets a chance to build up and give a full stress test of the material. Our supplier says that the vinyl can hold 20lbs/sq. ft. without any support. That number is greatly increased by the support given by the Douglas Fir timbers.

  • Q: Are your tents insulated?

  • A: They sure can be! Be sure to order the Cozy or Luxe kits, which include the Arctic Insulation Panels that go inside the canvas walls.

  • Q: How can I heat my Cedar Bound cabin?

  • A: You get to be creative! We currently heat (and cool) our show unit with a split AC/heating unit mounted on the wall. Customers have also shown interest in wood stove units, in-floor heating, and other methods. The sky is the limit, just make sure any open flames are properly ventilated!
